Curing your Daily Headache

A headache is known as cephalalgia in medical terminology and is one of the most common causes of pain in the human body. Thousands of individuals are affected by headaches on a daily basis and resort to over the counter (OTC) medications for relief oblivious to the fact that they might be adding to their misery instead of curing it. Headache pain can be quite annoying, particularly id it occurs on a daily basis. However, in such a scenario it is essential for you to consult a doctor to find out the exact cause of the pain as it might be an indicator of an underlying ailment.

There are two types of headaches- episodic and chronic. Daily headaches come in the category of chronic type and may signal the development or presence of another disorder. If you happen to be suffering from a headache 15 days or more in a month, you must take it seriously and not neglect the headache anymore.

Ailments that fall under the category of chronic daily headaches are chronic migraine, rebound headache, stress headache, hypertension, eye strain and cluster headaches.

Get a grip over your daily headache before it is too late:

Daily headache can be a real nuisance and can make you weary both emotionally and physically. These headaches can keep you up four hours at night and can affect your productivity in office or at home. They can cause you to become irritable, angry, restless and fatigued. They can also affect your ability to focus, cause confusion and strain.

If you are suffering from daily headache, you must refrain from taking analgesics or any other OTC painkillers as they cause more harm than providing relief. Taking painkillers for more than three times a week can result in rebound headaches or cause permanent liver damage.

You must consult a doctor and get your headache diagnosed. In case of any underlying disorders such as hypertension or migraine, you need to take appropriate medication.

You can also maintain a diary to keep tract of the frequency, severity and nature of headache. This will help your doctor diagnose it correctly.

If you suspect any headache triggers such as allergies, changes in weather condition, stress, odd posture or injury, you must make a note of it.
