Suicide Helpline

Millions of people end up taking their lives each year. Even in societies and religions where suicide is considered to be the gateway to hell, people still take their lives. Each one of us is born with the ability to take our life but little do we know when in despair that life is a blessing and we must enjoy it to the fullest. There are various suicide help lines that have been set up in order to help the depressed, dejected and lonely wanting to harm themselves or take away their lives. So, if you are feeling suicidal or know someone who is at the risk of harming themselves, help is not far away.

When someone is feeling suicidal, he/she has lost all hope and there seems to be no way out other than embracing death. Suicidal feelings can be extremely powerful and impulsive. They are capable of overtaking the rational aspects of an individual’s thinking capacity and can terminate all forms of life and happiness giving way to intense feelings of despair and life ending thoughts. One needs to understand that:

Taking way your life is not worth a temporary problem.

When we are feeling low, our perspective becomes negative and everything comes to a standstill. We cannot view things broadly. Bit after a while, everything will seem better.

Most individuals who were once suicidal are now happy to be alive and state that they never wanted to take their life but just wanted to end the misery and pain.

Talk it out:

The foremost step towards fighting out your depression and suicidal feelings is to talking to someone who is ready to listen. Most individuals feel suicidal only when they are trying to cope with their misery all by themselves. It is best to seek help at the earliest f you feel that you have suicidal tendencies.

Talk to family or friends: Talking can work wonders. It can help you spill out all your anger, frustration and feelings or grief, hurt or remorse. Talk to a family member, friend or colleague, if you are feeling depressed as this can give immense relief.

Talk to a befriender: There are several befriending centers all across the world that have been set up for individuals who want a listening ear. Many a times it becomes difficult for us to share our feelings with family or friends and we feel better by talking about them with a stranger. You can call up on the help line numbers of these centers or even send across e-mails.

Talk to a professional: If you feel that you cannot handle the situation any longer, it is best to approach a professional psychologist, psychiatrist or clinical social worker. Your depression can be treated with therapy or drugs and can enable you to live a healthier and happier life.
