Uses of Oranges

Orange is a juicy fruit and contains high quantities of water. It has properties to renew the lost energy, provide refreshment, give many health benefits and help in skin care.

Eating oranges can help to improve water intake. Intake of water is important as it flushes out toxics, maintains the body temperature and helps in metabolism. Consuming oranges can help you to prevent dehydration and the ill effects of the same.

Eating oranges during summer is beneficial, as the body loses water and energy easily. Since it contains natural sugar like glucose, it can re-energize the body instantly.

Orange drink can be beneficial to sports persons and athletes too, as it energizes them quickly. It can also be beneficial for schooling going children.

Oranges can be consumed directly or made into squash or juice. An orange juice in the afternoon can be very refreshing and replenishing.  A cocktail of orange-pomegranate, orange-apple, orange-carrot juice is tasty and nutritious.

Orange also helps in the process of digestion as it has more dietary fibre. It improves the roughage content and aids digestion. It can be a useful remedy for getting rid of constipation too.

It is a good source of vitamin A, C and B6, and minerals like calcium, potassium, phosphorus and folic acid. The presence of vitamin C helps in prevention of scurvy and can be useful to prevent bleeding gums too.

It contains very low levels of cholesterol and fat, and does not add up many calories. Oranges help in avoiding low blood pressure, dizziness and nausea. Due to the anti oxidant properties, it reduces the risk of heart diseases too.

The fruit is known to be beneficial in treatment of kidney stones, diabetes and respiratory disorders (like asthma).

Orange extracts are also useful for skin care.  It has properties to cleanse the skin, clean the pores, regulate oil and control aging. Therefore, it can be used in face masks or peel off masks for getting a smooth and glowing skin.
