Types of Dental Filling

If anyone of you is feeling hot and cold in the mouth and also the feeling of a sour taste, then it is an indication that you have to get your teeth filled for cavity treatment or for getting refilling done. People who have not got the filling done in order to remove cavity from tooth starts experiencing pain in the teeth which in later stages transforms into pus. In the most advanced stages, you have to get root canal treatment done. It means that go for filling treatment as quickly as possible.

Temporary filling is done at that time when there is a deep cavity in the teeth. Later on when there’s no pain or sensitivity then permanent filling is done. If there is any sought of problem in this then root canal treatment or tooth is extracted.

Silver filling is also known as amalgam. In this silver, copper, tin, zinc are mixed with mercury.

TECHNIQUE: First of all cavity is cleaned and cavity cutting is done. After that a layer of zinc phosphate cement is applied so that mercury which is used in filling doesn’t affect the root of the teeth. Afterwards amalgam is filled. Don’t eat anything at least for one hour after filling is done. You need to wait for one day in order to eat from the treated tooth. Silver filling is more economical and strong from other types of filling. It is grey or black in colour and looks bad in appearance. There is also risk of leakage and develops rust sometimes.

Composite filling is also known by the name of tooth color filling. It is prepared from the bonding technique and light cure method.

TECHNIQUE: In the first stage, cavity cutting is done. Then the tooth surface is made rough by using phosphoric acid. Then material is filled. Sometimes the material is filled in smaller quantities. Every time, material is put inside, for 30 seconds material is given permanent shape with the help of a blue light of LED light gun. Upper layer is given shape after which polishing is done. You can east immediately after this filling. Benefit of composite filling is that it is of tooth colour.
