Tips to Avoid Low Blood Pressure
Low blood pressure is a precarious condition to be in as it causes a feeling of nausea, you may lose consciousness, have dizzying spells, develop wobbly feet and may not be able to hold yourself steadily, may experience black out or disorientation. This is a potentially threatening situation and therefore needs attention and care so that such risks are avoided.
Low blood pressure may be caused because of drop in the level of essential salts, sugar or electrolytes in the body. It may also be a result of lack of adequate rest or sleep, due to stress, poor diet and shortfall of essential minerals and vitamins, faulty lifestyle and so on.
Self consciousness and alertness will help you to keep track of why you develop this condition. After each episode of low blood pressure try to introspect and get possible reasons why you might have developed it. This will enable you to exercise caution and prevent this condition in future.
Diet and lifestyle are important factors you must consider to avoid low blood pressure. Have a consistent dieting pattern, and follow it judiciously. Try to stick to your time schedules for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Do not skip meals.
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and must not be skipped, since the time gap between dinner and breakfast is already a lot. Have a wholesome breakfast and small meals throughout the day.
The quality of food taken is also worth consideration. You must ensure that there is adequate intake of proteins, minerals like iron, potassium, calcium, phosphorus in the body. Include green leafy vegetables, raw vegetables like tomatoes, cucumber, carrots, beetroot, whole grain cereals and pulses in your diet.
Eating fruits like oranges, bananas, watermelon, papaya, grapes will help in contributing to natural sources of sugar like glucose and fructose that are instant sources of energy.
Avoid going for strict diet control steps or starvation for weight loss. Eat light but eat right. Weight loss doesn’t mean you are fit and healthy. By faulty weight loss steps you may develop conditions like weakness, pale appearance, anemia, low blood pressure, fatigue, exhaustion etc.
Rest adequately. At least 6-7 hours of sleep is a must. Tension, anxiety and worrying can cause sleeplessness and stress, loss of appetite and consequently lead to low blood pressure.
