The Problem of Headache

Stiffness in the muscles of skull can become the reason for the occurrence of headache. If you are doing work on desk or computer for longer duration and are constantly taking physical stress can cause irritating pain in the head. If you are greatly upset over something or are habitual of thinking about anything over and over again can also cause headache.
Genetic reasons are twenty percent responsible for causing headache. For instance, if someone in the family has got history of migraine, then possibly the other person can also suffer from it. Lack of sleep can have its effect on the nervous system also and puts pressure on the muscles of the brain. Besides that, not eating food on the scheduled time can create deficiency of glucose in the body or gas in the stomach which becomes the root cause of headache. Increase in the consumption of alcohol and problem in eyes, ears, nose and neck can produce pain in the head. Sometimes, environmental factors are also responsible for it.
By practising meditation or some attention focussing techniques, you can feel comfortable from the problem of weakness, tension, insomnia, high blood pressure and migraine. Sit quietly or try to focus on your breath while inhaling or exhaling in a top to bottom posture. Let loose your body and mind and don’t think about anything, you will feel relieved from headache. But you have to practise this technique on a regular basis. Gentle massage on the head is also effective in this case. Giving massage automatically puts pressure on the acupressure points. Tying of cloth on head affects blood circulation also that can produce harmful effects also.
In general, the good quality oil available in the market contains peppermint or menthol which produces cooling effect. Balm contains several elements including peppermint which provides temporary relief to the muscles. By applying balm, one will get little bit of relief from headache caused due to tension.
There are several acupressure points, pressing of which can also treat headache. The middle point between two eyebrows can also be pressed for hormones. One inch above the middle of eyebrow on both the sides, there lays a point. Press either of the point for relieving the pain on the related side of the head.
