The Problem of Cough
Cough builds up due to infection in lungs, wind pipe or throat. Some people are of the view that cough develops because of diseases in mouth or nose but it is absolutely wrong. Cough is type of mechanism that attempts to protect the body. If someone suffers from the problem of cough then it means that the body is attempting to get rid of bacteria of some possible ailments. In due course, a person has to face some trouble.
Cough is not a disease by itself but it is an indication of some other disease. Despite this fact, it is not correct to ignore it. In medicinal system of allopathy, ayurveda, homeopathy, acupressure and yoga various kinds of medicines and techniques have been provided by which we can beat cough. If you are having cough for more than three weeks, then it can also be the indication of tuberculosis. It can also be an indication of asthma. Only cough can also be an indication of swine flu. Eat the food slowly as it will prevent commencement of coughing during consumption of food. Otherwise a piece of food can also enter the food pipe.
If coughing starts due to obstruction of food then give a massage on the back of a person. After some relief, give some warm water to drink. If still the problem persists then consult your doctor. Cough related medicines are safe. In allopathy, cough syrup can also be taken but with this a person might feel little bit lethargic. There are several types of cough. They are normal cough, cough arising out of asthma, whooping cough, dry cough, allergic & wet cough in addition to black cough.
It is better to avoid eating fried & oily food, spicy food, sauce, pickle, vinegar, lady finger, red kidney beans and banana in such cases. If possible keep away from aerated cold drinks, cold water as well as curd. Don’t drink cold water immediately after eating some warm food. Drink lukewarm water and tea having basil & ginger is also beneficial. Honey and raisin can also be taken. If you are experiencing cough along with cold and fever then there is no need to do other yogic exercises. Doing deep breathing exercise is more than enough.
