Sudden Crying Spells
Some of us may encounter sudden crying spells or moments of emotional outburst without any indication that this may happen. We may be perfectly in a healthy and cheerful state of mind and spirit, but may find tears rolling down without any apparent reason or cause. It may creep up on you in the most unexpected times, sometimes causing bafflement as to why it is happening and how you can control it.
Many of us have a lot of unresolved issues within ourselves. We may have buried it deep within layers of our mind and may avoid prodding it or exploring and addressing these concerns. However, emotions need to be channelised and let out. If they remain embedded in any part of your psyche or even at your sub-consciousness, they do find a way out at one point or the other.
So venting and coming to terms with emotions leads to actual acceptance of the troubling emotion that you have. Till that stage is reached, emotions may manifest in sudden outbursts.
External triggering factors also play a role in this. When you come across a person facing a situation that you had faced some time back, and if you have strong sense of the difficulties and pain undergone during that period, you may undergo a crying spell. This response is very natural and normal. The reason is that a chord has been touched within you, a connection has been made that makes you empathize and truly feel what the other person is going through. The crying spell may be for your own self or for the other person.
If past grievances were not addressed adequately, if it is still simmering in some part of your existence, if there is a lot of discontent and need for resolving the matter and putting it to rest, sudden emotional moments like these will be normal when you are confronted with the issue bothering you.
Sometimes it may be a result of just a day when nothing seems to be working for you. The stress, the negativism, pressures, feeling of defeat, hopelessness, helplessness, feeling of insecurity and vulnerability may lead to sudden crying spells.
It may also be a result of a depressive phase a person is going through. It may or may not be accompanied by self harming thoughts.
