Remedies for Acidity Relief
Acidity is known to have varied negative impacts on individuals. For some, it may cause heartburning sensation, sour/bitterness in the mouth, burping, some of us may get shooting headache or nausea. Vomiting, dizziness, black out or breaking into cold sweat can also be observed.
Acidity can be tackled by using home based remedies but it needs a long term change in dietary pattern and lifestyle so as to avoid it in future. Maintaining a controlled diet, fitness regime and balanced lifestyle without stress, panic, tension and anxiety are steps one should take to avoid acidity and its consequences.
One of the most natural and best remedies is to consume water. Water is a universal solvent and helps in diluting the acids, and flushes out toxins from the body. It reduces the bitter sour taste in the mouth and also the heartburning sensation. Drinking chilled water can provide quicker relief.
You can use a yoga exercise for reducing acidity. Fill up a jar with lukewarm water and add salt to it. Drink the entire jar of water and the saltiness will automatically provoke a puking sensation. Allow release of the water. The water thus discharged from the mouth will release the acids too.
For relief, sipping on chilled buttermilk or coconut juice is a good option. Drink slowly and easily. Do not stuff yourself with the juice at a go. Add a pinch of black pepper powder, asafetida or few pieces of crushed ginger to buttermilk. Sipping on coconut water say every 3-4 hours can provide some relief. Completely avoid sodas or any other soft drinks at this time.
Drinking a glass of plain milk (preferably chilled) is better than drinking tea or coffee. A glass of freshly made lemon juice or pineapple juice is a good remedy. You may add few mint leaves to it for taste and also cooling sensation. Eating plain yogurt is known to alleviate acidity.
Avoid citric fruits and food prepared in oil. Eat more raw vegetables like cucumber or tomato and fruits like banana or papaya.
