Reasons for Fainting

Fainting or fainting like condition, dizzying spells, have become an alarming and relatively frequent condition among youth, especially children and teenagers. This condition poses a risk, as you do not know when you may lose your balance and therefore may put yourself into physical risk.

Fear of dizziness, of fainting suddenly also plays on the mind, and an individual does not feel confident enough about his/her health to undertake activities and plans. Fainting or a semi-fainting state can be because of several reasons. Children and teenagers are obviously stressed out, burdened by studies and other activities. Coupled with neglect of nutritive food, poor sleeping, low level of fitness activities, more straining physical activity, dizziness can be a condition they may have to face.

Lack of proper diet can lead to deficiency of nutrients, vitamins and essential minerals that help in building the body, providing energy, supplementing it to take additional stress and strain, and revitalizing and refilling the stocks of energy needed. In the absence of these essential foods and presence of stress and strain, fainting cannot be avoided.

Lack of rest and inadequate sleep is common among children and teenagers due to late night studies, net surfing, chatting, watching movies etc. So the mind gets burdened and there is a sudden loss of energy due to which a person may feel drowsy, tired, sleepy, may have black out, weak legs and then may faint.

Exposure to harsh sun could also lead to fainting. People who are not used to exposure to heat, sunlight in the peak of day and suddenly find themselves in a situation where they have to be exposed, may faint due to strain and heat. Children may faint if they play in the sun for long hours especially without any intake of food.

Fainting can be a result of deficiency in the sugar level. Due to lack of essential salts, sugar like glucose, fructose and vital electrolytes, there may be a sudden dip in energy causing dizzying spells.
