Protecting Yourself in Rainy Season
Rainy season is an extremely joyful season to experience but it also brings with it number of ailments which if not taken care of can result in serious health problems. The most common of them are fever and severe throat infection. Fever develops because of many reasons, one of them being dengue fever which is caused due to bites of Aedes female mosquito. The female mosquito transmits any one of the four types of viruses of dengue. These mosquitoes have black lines on their body.
Symptoms of Dengue
A person suffering from dengue will at first feel cold before feeling feverish. Apart from this, severe pain will be felt in muscles, head, throat, eyes and back. General weakness will also be experienced apart from loss of appetite.
Treatment
Never take aspirin as it tend to lower the platelets. For getting temporary relief one can take paracetamol but a visit to the doctor becomes more than necessary.
Seasonal fever normally occurs at the change of the season. Its indicators are sneezing, heaviness in head, running nose, watery eyes, infection in throat, shivering and body ache. In fever, extract the raw juice of ginger & basil leaves. If you cannot completely extract the juice from basil leaves, then mix its green leaves with ginger and grind it well. Consuming the mixture will provide you instant relief.
Conjunctivitis, eye-flu or pink eye spread like a virus in the rainy season. Whenever there’s a change of season, you will notice the growth of these eye ailments.
Precautions to be taken
Avoid touching your face or eyes repeatedly with your hands. After finishing your work and starting a new task, wash your hands. Never share your towel, handkerchief or spectacles with anyone. Whenever you are venturing out in the sunlight, always wear black goggles as they protects your eyes from dust particles and polluted air. Goggles also protects from bright light as such type of light can cause irritation in eyes. In this season avoid swimming. Remember that eye ailments are not contagious in nature. It doesn’t occur by looking in the eyes of an affected person or by air. However, if we touch the eyes of the affected person then for sure we can get this disease.
