Protecting your Skin

“First impression is the last impression,” people often say in judging the personality of a person in the first instance. Skin of a person is generally judged on two aspects, i.e. evenness and quality of the skin. So, it becomes very important to protect the skin from harsh winter season.

During winter season, deficiency in moisture of the skin possibly causes undue dehydration, bumpiness as well as peeling of skin. Pollution in the air also compounds the growing skin problem these days. Getting too much heat from any heating appliance can have bad effect on your skin.

Avoid using moisturizing lotions designed for summer season instead prefer skin cream with heavy skin related oil. Almond oil, olive oil and apricot oil are best suited for skin of every type in winter season.

Human skin is most responsive or receptive towards natural products. So, if possible then try using ingredients from your kitchen for complete skin care. People having dry skin must use skin cleansers containing aloe Vera in any form.

Never bathe in hot water as it can take away moisture of the skin. Use tepid water. Extreme amount of exfoliation is unwanted as it can make skin completely parched. Use moisturizing lotion in a limited way as it obstructs the minute opening, i.e. pores of your skin which in turn leads to blackheads and pimples. Beauty products having alcohol as one of its constituents must be avoided.

Dry & blistering skin is the most common problem that people face in winter season. For this try some home remedies. If you want to replete your skin with moisture, then make a face pack consisting of finely grated almonds, milk cream and one spoon of honey. Let it remain on your face for thirty minutes. Apply this pack two times in one week.

For normal skin, take one spoon of raw orange juice and mix it with equal amount of honey. Put it uniformly on your face. Rest for 15-20 minutes and then cleanse it with normal water. For oily skin, use lemon juice along with honey and turmeric powder. Take half spoon of honey and mix it with one spoon of milk or its powdered form & rose water. Mix all the ingredients thoroughly and apply. Rinse it off after 15 to 20 minutes.
