More about AIDS
March 3, 2010
The syndrome of AIDS develops due to the presence of HIV inside the body. This particular virus lives inside the living cells of the body. HIV is not able to survive for more than thirty minutes outside the body. This means that there’s no probability of HIV spreading or breeding in open.HIV is of two types, i.e. HIV-1 and HIV-2. Maximum number of cases belongs to HIV-1 category and HIV-2 is found mostly in the African continent. The longevity of HIV-2 patient is more than those suffering from HIV-1 infection. After entering the body, HIV attacks WBC (White blood cells) and kills them gradually. After the end of these cells, the immunity of a person to fight against diseases starts diminishing. Day after day, person gets infected with a new disease and this last stage of HIV infection is AIDS.
Precautions to be taken
People suffering from HIV positive infection harbours the apprehension that everything is lost in his or her life as they also can lead normal life like all other people. However, some precautions must be taken by them. Get a complete medical check-up related to HIV infection for yourself after thoroughly consulting your doctor. Diagnostic tests for TB and STD (Sexually transmitted diseases) are essentially recommended in such cases. In cases of ladies, after consultation with doctors, they must also get their gynaecological test done.
Most importantly, inform your partner about it. Take all necessary precautions to make sure that other people don’t get affected by it. Stop using drugs and alcohol. Eat nutritious diet and keep yourself free from any type of tension. People suffering from this infection should never donate their blood, plasma, semen or any other body organ. Every pregnant lady must get an HIV test done.
It is not necessary that if one partner tests negative for HIV than the other partner will also test negative. On the other hand if a person is already afflicted with STD than the vulnerability of a person towards HIV increases.
People suffering from AIDS must get all the emotional caring apart from all other necessary treatment as the psychological treatment is equally crucial in averting the effects of AIDS.
