Fruits provide the necessary nutrients including natural sugar to the body. Berries are considered extremely beneficial in diabetes. The amount of omega-3 fatty acid and fiber should be increased in the diet of a diabetic patient. Non-polished rice, bran mixed flour, soybean, raw gram, red kidney beans, sprouts, brown bread, oat and porridge must be used. In the category of juices, raw juice of bitter gourd, carrot, spinach, turnip can be taken. However, fruit juices must be taken in moderation as they contain high amount of sugar. In one day, drink only half glass of juice.

People who prefer non-vegetarian food can have boiled chicken and boiled fish which can also be roasted. One or two eggs can be eaten in a day. Nonetheless, it would be better if a sugar patient remains on a vegetarian diet. Try to cook you food in linseed oil or sunflower oil. The combination of corn oil and mustard oil can also be utilized. On the whole, three to four spoons of oil or ghee must not be taken.

In case of diabetes, milk products such as, milk, curd, cheese must be prepared from low fat milk. The use of double toned milk is beneficial. Sugar patient can drink two to three cups of tea in a day but without adding sugar to it. Fenugreek, garlic, cinnamon, reduces glucose level in the blood and increases good cholesterol. Juice and gel of Aloe Vera as well as green tea are also helpful. It is a myth that by eating walnut, almond or pistachios, the level of sugar in blood will increase. A person can take eight to ten pieces of dry fruits daily.
