Improve Iron Intake
Iron is a vital mineral for effective functioning of the body. Iron helps to build the red blood corpuscles and hemoglobin. Deficiency of iron in the body can lead to several physical ailments.
The negative impact of shortage of iron in the body is low resistance to diseases, low blood pressure, dizziness, frequently falling ill, exhaustion, tiredness, dizziness, fatigue, reduction in energy and stamina, increased frequency of infections, pale and unhealthy appearance etc.
Lack of iron is known to cause anemia, especially among women. A diet containing adequate amount of iron is important to avoid the negative consequences. Tonic and health supplements (on recommendation of doctors) may also help you to improve the iron content in the body.
Fruits and vegetables like beetroot, carrot, dry fruits, green leafy vegetables, banana, strawberry etc are also good sources of iron. These foods can be consumed directly or can be included in various food preparations.
For example, beetroot can be grated and added to curd and used as salad. Beetroot can be an accompaniment to salad dressings of cucumbers, tomatoes and onion. Beetroot slices can be added to sandwich along with boiled potatoes, onion and tomatoes. Beetroot juice or a cocktail of beetroot and carrot juice can help.
Eating dry fruits like fig, almond, and cashew nuts directly or by soaking them overnight increases the iron content in the body and improves memory.
Jaggery and peanuts also makes a good combination for improving iron content. You can heat the jaggery until it is in a liquid state, add peanuts (whole or crushed) to it and make small balls and let it cool. Eating it in the morning or when you feel exhausted, will give you energy and improve your health.
Raisins and figs eaten in the dry or fruit form are both beneficial. Dates are also a source of iron. You can eat dates or make desert preparations out of it. You can also use the paste of crushed dates for sweetness in food preparations.
Consuming fruits like orange, pomegranate, grapes, strawberry will also improve your iron level.
