How to make your kid morally right

Morality is a virtue. It is a necessity. It cannot be compromised in this era of corruption, war crimes, dissident forces, and escalating conflicts between ideologies of generations. It is in these times that little children grow. They are caught between choices. You also have plenty of media offering varying perspectives on good and evil. Everything is a matter of choice. Kids don’t have the ability to think for themselves. Seldom do you find kids, who are opinionated and driven by their own convictions.

Convictions are created at an early age. You must enforce convictions. They then later on become principles.

How to make a child imbibe morality

Lead by example

Kids learn from their surroundings. What they see around in their formative years, becomes a source for all learning for them. At that age, they do not have the power to form discretions.

This is because they do not know that there exists two concepts of human social evolution…the good and the bad.

Corrective behavior strategies

You need to nip things at the bud. Don’t let bad behavior escalate. Deal with it at the onset itself.

If a kid is showing morally incorrect behavior, you need to talk to the kid, and explain the good things and bad things about the behavior.

Is your kid already showing promiscuous behavior? Then you need to step in and deal with it using stern corrective action. Don’t be frightened of using stern corrective action. You have to sometimes govern kids by imbibing a fright in them. They must be frightened of you. This will prevent them from doing things that they are not supposed to do.

It is almost like we are frightened of a higher power, and fear consequences of this higher power if we do something wrong. In the same way, kids have to fear a higher power – which is you.

Friends

Your kid’s friends go a long way in determining how your kid’s personality will shape up. Often bad company will turn your kid into a bad kid. The same goes with good company.

You need to step in and choose your kids friends. Agrees this is difficult, but it should be done. You may sense resentment initially, but it will gradually wane away.
