How to Maintain Your Smile
If you will take care of your teeth now then in the future you will be saved from the costly dental treatment. For this purpose, besides regular consultation with your dentist, you’ll also have to take care of your oral health by yourself. If you take small precautions then your smile will always be maintained.
Drink lots of water because it acts as a natural mouthwash which cleanse the leftover matter that has remained in the mouth after drinking coffee, soda or red wine. Include loads of fruits & vegetables in your food plan. Apple, carrot, cucumber & celery as they naturally cleanses your mouth. When you eat these food items, the material stuck in between your teeth gets cleaned automatically. After dinner, eat one small piece of cheese as your mouth will get natural acid. Chew sugar free chewing gum as it will expedite the process of saliva production which in turn will remove the dirt wedged in between the teeth.
Never forget to brush after drinking any aerated drink but remember that never brush your teeth at least for 30 minutes after having orange juice. It will help in the restoration of enamel cover on the teeth. Sometimes, you can even wash your teeth with a solution of hydrogen para-oxide. It will not only remove bacteria from mouth but will also provide brightness to your teeth. This must done only after brushing is over. But be careful that this particular solution is not meant for drinking. However, once in a while teeth can be brushed with baking soda. Always use soft toothbrush. If your toothbrush is hard, then soak it in warm water prior to brushing.
It is extremely important to clean your tongue. It will not only help you in fighting bad breath but will also prevent the growth of bacteria due to accumulated matter on the surface of tongue. Avoid taking sugar in huge quantity as it helps in the growth of bacteria which weakens the teeth. You can also use good quality mouth wash which have anti-cavity and anti-plaque properties. Brush your teeth regularly at least 2 times in a day and visit your dentist after every 6 months for dental check-ups.
