How to Believe in Yourself
Self belief is an important quality that an individual must possess. Believing in your capability to succeed in your venture, carrying out your mission with confidence and conviction, believing that you can beat odds and progress in life despite trials and tribulations reduces the tension, the lack of confidence, nervousness, fear, doubts, anxieties, stress and frustration that may arise due to unexpected hurdles.
Believing in yourself is not something that you can force yourself to do or learn. It comes with experience, it comes by taking risks, challenging your limits, challenging the limitations and mental blocks that you place on yourself. Sometimes external sources can also motivate you and help you to believe. For example, praise from teachers, others reposing their faith in your capabilities, being told about your positives and strengths by others can generate belief.
Believing in yourself does not come in a day. It is after you have tested the times, been through difficulties and troubles and used your reserves and resources to tackle them and succeed, you become aware of your latent and hidden potential. That is when you realize your strength and start believing yourself.
The process of developing belief is somewhere attached to success. If you have been successful your self belief is high and vice versa. However, some of us have a strong conviction about our purpose and propelled by self belief we try again and again till we succeed.
There are some cases where despite success we are unable to believe ourselves for successful completion of an endeavour. Therefore inner engineering is one way to develop your confidence. Inner engineering can be done by attending workshops that bring about a change in your perception and opinion of yourself, restructures your thought patterns and attitudes, modifies your personality through various practical exercises. Another mode that can bring about inner positive change is developing your spirituality and faith.
