High Risk Pregnancy Complications
Diabetes can be a big problem for pregnant women. Women who are suffering from diabetes before pregnancy must conceive when their sugar level becomes normal. Ladies whose parents have diabetes must remain extra careful from the time they plan pregnancy till delivery. In case of normal pregnancy also, the capacity of insulin reduces by fifteen percent. Therefore, many ladies develop gestational diabetes during pregnancy itself. However, it all depends upon person to person.
In many cases, both pregnancy and diabetes are diagnosed after four weeks of conceiving and because of this, there is always a danger to the baby whose organs starts developing in the initial months. So, that is why it is better to plan pregnancy in advance.
During pregnancy, control your sugar level because if it increases in the second or third trimester, then the size of the baby increases which results in caesarean operation.
In pregnancy, always take insulin instead of medicines as it can result in defects in the baby. In most of the cases, diabetes gets treated naturally after delivery. During pregnancy, never take any medicine without the advice of doctor.
Pregnant women must get their HIV test done. Possibly, if the mother tests positive or is suffering from AIDS, then the chances of baby getting infected with the same disease increases by one-third. If woman is suffering from hypertension, then growth of the child can be less. This also increases the chances of pre-mature delivery.
If the mother is affected with jaundice, then the bleeding starts prior to delivery. In such case, always get the delivery done in a good and reputed hospital.
In course of pregnancy, a woman often gets emotional and sensitive. If she thinks that her husband is not paying her enough attention then she might suffer from irritation, sleepless nights or loss of appetite. Her sexual health also gets effected. Sex in first and third trimester must be avoided. In such a situation, husband and other members of the family must whole heartedly support a woman going through this phase.
It is often assumed that if a mother is having diabetes then she should not breastfeed her infant, but this is wrong as mother’s milk is the best source for increasing baby’s immunity. It’s a false notion that consumption of almond, saffron, orange or coconut water results in birth of fair skinned baby. This is just an assumption because all such things makes the skin of baby good and there’s no relation between skin complexion of the baby and eating above mentioned food.
