Healthcare for Women

Women’s health needs are umpteen considering the physical and mental stresses they undergo from early on in life. These stressors do not reduce with passage of time, but become more prominent due to additional responsibilities of household, professional competition etc.

Women’s health also needs increase with their age as many conditions like arthritis, osteoporosis, obesity, hypertension, diabetes, breast cancer/cancer in the uterus, anemia, pain and discomfort during menopause have been noted.

Women’s diet and lifestyle can help in reducing the physical and mental ailments they suffer. Women’s nutrition needs are neglected or ignored. Women need sufficient intake of iron, calcium and protein in their diet to be healthy and strong.

Iron can be included in the diet by intake of beetroot, jaggery, peanuts, green leafy vegetables, raisins, figs or by using external supplements like iron based tonics. This will prevent them from falling prey to anemia, low blood pressure, dullness, loss of energy and stamina and pale appearance.

Calcium deficiency leads to brittle bones and causes pain in the knees joints.  Intake of milk and milk products will be beneficial to them. Also eating fresh fruits, vegetables, soybean, oatmeal, diary products like egg will add to their strength and vitality.

Absence of time for exercising or physical fitness has lead to various conditions like obesity, flabby thighs, feeling tired and exhausted, stressed, strained, mental exhaustion, excessive stomach flab, breathing difficulties etc.

Therefore freeing time for exercises is necessary. A brisk walk of 30 minutes or yoga exercises for 30 minutes can be beneficial for their physical and mental well being. Meditation or deep breathing exercises can also refresh their mind and fill them with positive energy and inner calm.

Periodic full body check up is also imperative for early detection and prevention of life threatening diseases like cancer.

Adequate rest, comfort, and happy, understanding and loving atmosphere at home will help them to get over the difficulties experienced during menopause.
