Headache Prevention
Headache could be caused by external factors like stress, sudden change in lifestyle, emotional distress, physical strain etc, or could be caused due to internal conditions like migraine, sinus problem etc.
In any case certain precautions can be taken to avoid triggering the headache. By controlling the external factors, you can prevent the impact it has on your body.
Headache can be avoided if the causes provoking headache are known. For some, headache can be caused by skipping meals, acidity, lack of sleep, exertion at home or work, tension, emotional trauma due to conflict in relationships, exposure to harsh sunlight etc.
The first step in prevention is to know the causes. You can also take general precautions to prevent headache.
Do not venture out in the sun during afternoons. If you have to, use adequate protection like wearing a cap or using an umbrella.
Do not go on starvation diets or skip your meal. Eat at the right time daily and in adequate quantities. Eat a nourishing diet and avoid deep fried, oily, excessively spicy items. Be alert in case you have an allergic reaction to any food that causes headache.
Stress control can also be helpful. Practice yoga exercises or meditation daily, preferably in the morning. During the day you can also practice relaxation exercises like deep breathing to neutralize stress and strain.
Physical fitness will also help to build your stamina and energy levels. Early morning exercises or playing active sports like tennis, cycling, swimming will also reduce stress and unburden the mind.
Do not neglect your relaxation and resting time. Do not stay up late into the night and deprive yourself of sleep. Sleep adequately atleast for 6-7 hours daily. If not, you can take power naps to 15-20 minutes during the day to feel refreshed and energized.
Headache can be prevented by following a balanced and healthy lifestyle.
