Have positive attitude to avoid stress

Stress is the result of over exertion, due to sudden changes in the circumstance, finding yourself in a situation that you are not comfortable in, feeling that you are not competent to do some work assigned to you. Negative attitude, lack of trust in oneself, inferiority complex also affects the psyche causing tension, panic, anxiety, self doubt, worry etc that subsequently leads to mental exhaustion and stress.

Having a positive attitude about life and yourself and having a broad outlook towards various circumstances in life can help you to reduce the stress that comes with unexpected uncomfortable changes. Taking things in a spirit of challenge, having a strong mind and heart, will power and stability of mind are all positive attributes that will help you to beat taxing situations and move ahead without mental agony and stress.

For example, you may have been given a tough assignment which needs completion within a short span of time. This may provoke tension, worry and stress as you may doubt if you can do your best in the assignment, do it in such a way that meets expectations and is at par with the benchmarks laid out.

Instead of panicking over the work, if you set about doing it in a calm and strong frame of mind, you will win half the battle. Positive attitude and deciding that you will take it up as a challenge and test your limits readies your mind to undertake the activity and releases a new gush of energy and enthusiasm.

Contrary to this, if you let your mind get clouded by self doubt, feeling of fear and threat that you might not be able to do it, you will end up doing a poor job. Thinking that you are incompetent or the work is beyond your capacity will create a negative environment and make things more difficult to achieve. Therefore having a positive attitude and enterprising spirit will help you to reduce the stress a certain event may create.

Being objective and rational rather than sentimental and emotional will also help you to see things in positive light. It will buffer you from unnecessary mental strain, restlessness and agitation and preserve your positive energy and spirit that helps combat stress.
