Effects of Blood Pressure on Pregnancy

Pregnancy causes several hormonal changes in the body of an expectant mother. The problem of hypertension brought about by pregnancy can produce distressing effects if it is not treated on time. There are three 3 categories of hypertension that can complicate pregnancy.

The first category is of chronic hypertension or high blood pressure. It displays least amount of effect on a pregnant lady provided that it is treated with complete care. The second category of hypertension in pregnancy is gestational. It can be somewhat pose risk for both the foetus and the mother. In the third category comes the combination of the other two categories which can be regarded as the most horrible prospect.

What are the symptoms through which hypertension can be detected in such cases?

In such condition, expectant mother will continuously experiencing severe pain in the head, faintness, problem in vision, profound response from the ligament & diagnosis of protein in alarming quantity in urine.

Seek advice from your doctor for any change in prescribed medicines as well as their quantity. Take adequate amount of bed rest and try to have food which is low in salt. Don’t panic and remain calm & composed prior to delivery. Always visit your doctor as per schedule for normal examination. There would be normal alteration in the level of blood pressure throughout pregnancy in regular cases also. It becomes a type of test for the doctor to let know the difference between different categories of blood pressure in pregnant ladies.

As everybody knows that normal blood pressure must be 120/80. The level of hypertension in pregnant ladies depends on their body type, ability to tolerate and most importantly the health of the expectant mother. In many cases it has been observed that high BP results in premature delivery. In the 5th month of pregnancy, a health condition which is known as pre-eclampsia begins to develop. Taking well-balanced, healthy diet is the best thing that can be done for the health of both mother and the baby.
