What are the different kinds of diagnostic tests available for diabetes?

Blood and urine tests are most recommended for the diagnosis of diabetes. However, if blood sugar is not more than 170 then it will not be detected in urine test, therefore blood test is necessary. Blood test is done two times- empty stomach and after breakfast or after consumption of glucose in any form.

Make sure that a person needs to consume food rich in carbohydrates at least 3-4 days before going for sugar test. If you are taking medication related to cholesterol, urine stimulator, any steroid, Vitamin C, Paracetamol or any type of contraceptive pills then stop taking them at least ten to twelve hours before taking this test since such medications influence the diagnostic reading during sugar test. People who have to go for test after breakfast must try to stay inside the premises of hospital or pathological lab and should not roam around because it can affect the result.

Diabetic patients, who use insulin, must get blood test done daily or at least thrice in a week. People who take medicines to control diabetes must get blood test done once in a week.

What are Glycosylated Haemoglobin & Micro-albumin Tests?

In glycosylated haemoglobin test, the quantity of sugar for three months is tested in blood. This test is very important for each and every patient of diabetes because through it a patient comes to know whether the medicine they are taking for the past few months have shown any positive result or not.

Micro-albumin test is done to know the affect of diabetes on kidneys. Micro albumin is not found in the urine of a healthy person. In this test, if micro albumin is found in whatever quantity in urine then it means that the kidneys are getting affected because of diabetes. In such cases, if besides controlling sugar, blood pressure is also controlled then the possibility of a serious malady is decreased. Decreasing the quantity of protein in your diet will stop further development of the ailment. Every sugar patient must get this test done once in a year.
