Confidence is the Key to Anxiety Control

Anxiety can grip us just before the crucial hours of an exam, a performance, delivering a lecture, presenting a seminar, appearing for an interview, speaking in a public forum, or any other activity that we intend to do successfully. There can be anxiety about the performance, pressure to do better, stand upto the expectations, and deliver your best.

Anxiety may arise out of fear of failure, hesitation, tension, fear of being judged poorly by others, not having trust in your capabilities and capacity, and lack of confidence.

Confidence is the key characteristic a person must possess. People like to interact with others who are confident, sure of themselves, sound convincing, are not trapped into self doubt, low/negative self image. A person who presents him/herself and their ideas confidently becomes a center of attraction, is trusted, valued and held in high esteem by others. The chances of succeeding in any endeavour you undertake is more when you feel confident and positive about it.

Anxiety and panic attacks, fear, dilemma, stress, tension can be avoided if you possess this quality of self belief and confidence. Confidence is like an inner assurance that you will succeed and do well, you will give the desired end to the matter you take up. It does not leave any scope for fear, hesitation, doubt, insecurity, vulnerability, reservation and negativity. Automatically you will be freed from your anxieties and worries.

To be confident, you need to be prepared adequately. However, preparation is not everything. Many things in life happen that are confusing, thrown at you suddenly, sneak up on you when you are not expecting it. So preparation can never actually be complete.

It is your mental reserve, your determination and courage that will help you to cope with these anxiety provoking situations. Have a strong mind and unshakable faith in yourself. It will reduce your inhibitions and anxieties to a large extent.
