Are You Obsessed with Your Weight?

Some of us may constantly keep track of the food we eat, the calories we may have gained, what will a particular food do to our weight, how much weight have we gained, what can we do for weight loss etc. This constant consciousness of watching our weight can have a negative impact on our well being.

This obsession can take over you and you may be bothered about your weight even though there may be no need for you to think about weight loss. You may be in good shape, however, may still feel worried about what you eat and do not eat. You just may not be able to enjoy food. Eating food may become a guilt provoking act rather than one that feels satisfying, gratifying and health giving.

You may cut down on food unnecessarily. This can cause deficiency in the level of various nutrients, vitamins and minerals that are essential for efficient functioning of the body. You may feel exhausted, tired, fatigue, drowsiness, and dullness due to this. You may fall prey to dizziness, low blood pressure, mineral/vitamin deficient ailments like anemia, white patches in skin, brittle bones, bleeding gums etc.

There could be a sense of unease, restlessness, irritation, dissatisfaction about your body and weight. This may create unnecessary stress, mood swings, poor body image, helplessness or mental exhaustion due to constant thinking or worrying.

You may suffer guilt or feel angry with yourself if you ate more than your daily quota. You may also consume very less quantities every day, and one day if you eat more than that you may feel like you ate too much (which may still be inadequate).

Some of you may push yourself for vigorous exercises and strenuous workouts to either reduce your weight or maintain it. Even if you loose weight, you may be constantly scrutinizing yourself for any signs of weight gain, causing anxiety and unnecessary worry.
